Rick Warren Doesn’t Believe in Ghost[writer]s

A few days ago, Rick Warren Tweeted his feelings about ghostwriters. He doesn’t like them. Doesn’t believe they should be used. Sees them as deceptive and dishonest. Really? This from the man who created Pastors.com, a site at which pastors can get sermon ideas and even download transcripts, MP3s, PowerPoint presentations, sermon notes, and more? What Editors Say vs. What Authors Hear

I just had a conversation with one of my authors, who is working through a manuscript that was just returned by the copyeditor. Being an editor myself (and having worked as one for a number of publishers in the past), I assured my author that what was being requested was not out of the ordinary. Still, deep inside was the feeling that every author experiences with each project. Every edit that is a bit deeper than just catching a typo or inserting a missing comma feels as if the editor is saying to a new parent, “Your baby is ugly.” Continue reading
